Aamir Khan to make TV debut on Star Plus’ chat show

MUMBAI: Touted as Mr Perfectionist by one and all, superstar Aamir Khan will finally make his television debut on Star Plus.

The show will be produced by Aamir Khan Productions and is expected to go on-air in early 2012. The title of the show has not yet been decided.

The show will see the actor connecting with people across class and geography. What’s more, it will be broadcast simultaneously across eight regional languages and beamed in over 65 countries.

Star India CEO Uday Shankar said that the show wasn’t a reality show nor was it a fiction. "It’s a real show about real people," he informed.

On the other hand, Khan informed that the format of the show was such that it could sometimes be based in a studio set as well as an outdoor location.

Khan said, "Over the last few years I have often been approached with various television shows. But none of those that were offered to me, really excited me. I work on excitement. What excites me about television is its power and reach, its enormous potential to connect with people. And this is what I want to use. I want it to be an enriching experience, for me and for my audience. This is not just a show for me, it’s a journey. A journey of discovery, of change, of emotions, of human stories which touch and inspire us."

"No Bollywood star has shown the ability to move the masses with his experimentation as much as Aamir has done in the last decade. Star India is doing the show with Aamir Khan to reinforce the same agenda of creativity, to push the limits of programming and come up with something which will be enormously impactful and engaging. We want to redefine the entertainment space with the show. The show will take the entertainment to the engagement level and will be simulcast in regional languages besides Hindi and English," added Shankar.

It may be recalled that almost all top notch actors have been bitten by the television bug. The likes of Amitabh Bachchan (Kaun Banega Crorepati), Salman Khan (Bigg Boss), Shah Rukh Khan (Kaun Banega Crorepati, Kya Aap Paanchvi Paas Se Tez Hai?, Zor Ka Jhatka), Akshay Kumar (MasterChef India, Khatron Ke Khiladi),Hrithik Roshan (Just Dance), Abhishek Bachchan (National Bingo Night) andSanjay Dutt (Bigg Boss) amongst others have hosted shows on various general entertainment channels (GECs). Aamir’s entry on the small screen will be awaited with baited breath no doubt!
