Aamir Khan’s Peepli [Live] out of Oscar race

MUMBAI: UTV Motion Pictures and Aamir Khan Productions’ Peepli [Live] is out of the Oscar race.
Directed by debutante director Anusha Rizvi, the film is a satirical look at corruption and farmers’ suicides and was India’s official entry to the Oscars in the Best Foreign Film category.
However, the film has been left out of the nine films shortlisted by the Academy. The final list will be announced on 25 January, which will have five final nominees.
Peepli [Live] had been selected as India’s entry to the Oscars over films like Udaan and Raajneeti.
The film stars Omkar Das Manikpuri, Raghuveer Yadav, Malaika Shenoy, Shalini Vatsa, Farrukh Jaffer, Vishal Sharma, Nasseruddin Shah, Aamir Bashir, Sitaram Panchal and Yugal Kishore. It was released on 13 August, 2010.
