Actors celebrate World Animal Week

MUMBAI: eBay India in association with the Goa Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (GSPCA) headed by Lintas Media Services director Lynn de Souza, offered an array of memorabilia of John Abraham, Bipasha Basu, Soha Ali Khan, Katrina Kaif, Ajay Devgan, Boman Irani and Raveena Tandon for auction as a preview of the celebration of the World Animal Week from 4 – 10 October.


The appeal received an enthusiastic response from the celebrities who have come forward generously to donate special items and memorabilia from their wardrobe.


Goa SPCA chairperson and managing trustee Lynn de Souza says, “We are extremely grateful for the generosity and compassion showed by all celebrities who have donated memorabilia to us for this auction. The proceeds will be used to treat injured street and wild animals at our hospital


and for the upkeep of abandoned animals at our shelter.”


eBay India manager corporate communication Deepa Thomas adds, “eBay India has raised funds for various causes including the tsunami affected victims and the Mumbai Bomb blast affected victims. Till date, eBay India raised over Rs 16.4 million (Rs 1.64 crore) from its community. Internationally, eBay has benefited over 4000 separate non-profits and raised over $54 million for charities worldwide.”


The memorabilia donated are as follows:



  • John Abraham – Red and black Yamaha Cap with his embroidered signature
  • Bipasha Basu – Bracelet with green and white stones fitted in brass mould with intricate embellishments
  • Ajay Devgan – White shirt and trousers from his wardrobe in Apaharan
  • Katrina Kaif – Pink top worn by her in Humko Deewana Kar Gaye
  • Raveena Tandon – Golden Gharara gifted by her mother on her birthday designed by Anna Singh. The piece comes with a personalised note by Raveena to the buyer.
  • Soha Ali Khan – Sequined black and white backless top with black cotton jacket and designer jeans from her personal collection
  • Boman Irani – Rayban Sunglasses from his personal collection

Recently eBay was in news when they crowned Priyanka Chopra as the eBay diva. Chopra announced an opportunity for all Indians to participate in a charity auction and raise funds for the education of the girl child through reputed NGO – Nanhi Kali. This auction received an enthusiastic response from bidders from around the world and an amount close to Rs 200,000 was collected for the NGO Nanhi Kali.
