MUMBAI: After a hiatus of eight years, Aditya Chopra is back to directing a movie. Even as his directorial debut Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge continues its record breaking run in its 13th year, Chopra is ready to direct his third film after Mohabbatein.
Chopra will direct a film called Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi with Shah Rukh Khan in the lead. What’s more, Chopra will be launching a new face opposite SRK, the hunt for which is on. Recently, Deepika Padukone made her debut opposite Khan in Om Shanti Om.
After directing his second film Mohabbatein in 2000, Chopra had taken a conscious break from direction to set up and develop Yash Raj Films into a studio model.
In the years that followed, YRF produced films like Dhoom, Dhoom:2, Hum Tum, Bunty Aur Babli, Salaam Namaste, Fanaa and Chak De! India amongst others. Chopra also wrote the script for Yash Chopra’s directorial venture Veer-Zaara in 2004.
To be produced by Yash Chopra, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi will be written and directed by Aditya Chopra. Shooting for the film will commence in May and will release by the end of 2008.
