Mumbai :Producer Sunil Thakur who earlier made the realistic crime drama Avgat (2001) and is ready with his latest film, 26 th July at Barista is currently completing his third film Saab, Chai – Paani.
“I am making this film in the genre of Ardh Satya but it is not a remake as some section of the media has mentioned recently. My film is almost 70% complete. It is being directed Manish Gupta who has scripted films like D, Sarkar and Darna Zaroori Hai.”
Saab, Chai – Paani stars Om Puri, Sonu Sood and National Award Winning Actress Rituparna Sengupta who was last seen in Main, Meri Patni Aur Woh.
Talking about his role in the film Om Puri says, “I am playing a corrupt DCP who is just the opposite of what I was in Ardh Satya. I am very confident that Manish Gupta will be able to deliver the goods as he is handling everybody on the sets with the experience of the RGV school of filmmaking.”
Sonu Sood who was last seen in Aashiq Banaya Apne plays the main lead in the film. He spoke to us about his role. “I am playing the character of an honest cop who turns to corruption and follows a local don’s orders. Later in the film he regrets his deeds and wants to turn a new leaf but he realises to his horror, there is no turning back.
Rituparno Sen Gupta is playing my wife in this film which is also my first solo hero venture after a dozen releases in Hindi and South languages” , says Sonu.
