After 500 films, Sameer storms South again

Mumbai: Lyricist SAMEER, who completes 25th year of his career as song writer this year and has bagged his 500th film – Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s SAAWARIYA – now storms the South in a big way.

He has bagged three prestigious films down South – Kamal Haasan’s Dasavatharam and Singeetham Srinivasa Rao’s 3-D animation film Maya Bazar. Both the films have music by Himesh Reshammiya. The third film is —- and Sameer works with legendary Ilayaraja.


So far Sameer has written 5000 songs, including private albums.Sameer has written 90% songs for leading music directors Nadeem-Shravan, Anand-Milind and Himesh Reshammiya. (The famous ghost-invoking song Jhalak Diklaja… was written by him).


He has worked with almost all the leading filmmakers. They include B.R.Chopra, Yash Chopra, Subhash Ghai, Sanjay Leela Bhansli, Aditya Chopra, Karan Johar, David Dhawan, Abbas-Mustan, Sunil Dharshan, Dharmesh Darshan, Raj Kanwar, Madhur Bhandarkar, Inder Kumar, Satish Kaushik, Kamal Haasan, Nikhil Advani and J.P.Dutta, to name a few.


Perhaps he is one of the few successful writer son of a successful writer – the late Anjaan.
