Akbar Khan plans re-release of Taj Mahal

MUMBAI: Producer-director Akbar Khan has plans to revive his historical opus Taj Mahal – An Eternal Love Story, with another theatrical release.

Says Khan, “I am planning to re-release Taj Mahal – An Eternal Love Story within two months, probably by June 2007. Last week, the film received good reviews at the special screening held at the Indian Habitat Centre in Delhi.”

The film, released in mid-November 2005, was withdrawn two weeks later, due to a poor response, which Khan attributes to inappropriate marketing and distribution.

Taj Mahal was Akbar Khan’s second directorial venture, after Haadsa in 1983. The filmmaker is hoping the film re-writes history at the box-office in its second coming.
