Amitabh Bachchan transforms the face of Bhojpuri cinema

Mumbai: Amitabh Bachchan released the music of his forthcoming Bhojpuri
film Ganga on Tuesday night. And for the first time in his 35 yer long acting career, he has acted in a
Bhojpuri film.

Ganga is produced by Deepak Sawant Amitabh’s current make-up man for over 30 years. The film also features Hema Malini, Ravi Kishen, Nagma and Manoj Tiwari. In the film Amitabh Bachchan plays an affirmative role of a Thakur, something that has never been portrayed before in Bhojpuri films. “Amitji completed the shooting of the film within 5 days in Filmcity. He was earlier hesitant to act in this film but after I gave him the hard bound script he read it and instantly agreed. On hearing this Hema Malini also agreed to act in the film “informs Deepak Sawant.


The Bhojpuri heartthrob Ravi Kishen was also present at the music launch. He says, “Since the time Amitabh Bachchan had agreed to work in a Bhojpuri film, it has changed the face of the Bhojpuri cinema. I am glad that so many corporate houses and big producers have invested money and time in Bhojpuri cinema."

In Ganga Ravi plays the role of a boy who is very
dear to Amitabh Bachchan, even more than his own son. Talking about her role in the film Nagma says, “I play the title role in the film- Ganga. Ganga is a woman of today who fights for her rights and drives home
the point that woman will always be a symbol of strength in our society.”


Ganga has been completed in a budget of Rs 10 million. The film
has been shot in Benaras, Bombay at large and also in London for a 6 day schedule.Ganga is due for release in September. “The film will also see an overseas release”,informs Deepak Sawant. “The response of Bhojpuri film
has been tremendous in Mauritius and Bangkok, hence I am waiting for some attractive offer for the overseas release
of the film”, he adds.
