Amrish Puri’s last film to release with 160 prints


MUMBAI: A year and a half after the ‘Mogambo of Bollywood’ – Amrish Puri passed away, his last film – Kachchi Sadak – will be released on 15 September with 160 prints worldwide.


Kachchi Sadak is produced by Jia Entertainment Network Pvt. Ltd and is directed by Sanjay D Singh. The movie stars Rahul Singh (Zubeida fame), Parmita Katkar, Madhoo, Mukesh Tiwari, Rahul Dev, Aman Verma, Govind Namdeo, Sharat Saxena, Tinnu Anand, Anant Jog. Mithun Chakraborty has a special appearance in the film. The movie also promotes Rajasthan tourism and has been shot mainly in Jodhpur.


The film has been made on a budget of Rs 40 million (Rs 4 crores) and the overseas rights have been acquired by Adlabs. “We are planning to release the movie on 15 September with 150 prints in India and 10 prints in the overseas market,” says Singh.


On the other hand, Nimbus Motion Pictures has acquired the Mumbai and Delhi – U.P. distribution rights for the film. Confirming the development, Nimbus Motion Pictures director Vivek Vaswani says, “Yes, we have acquired the rights of Kachchi Sadak. We had earlier released Mukesh Bhatt’s Kalyug, Killer and Gangster in Mumbai and Delhi – U.P. and this will be our fourth movie. Recently, we also acquired Mukesh Bhatt’s Woh Lamhe, starring Shinny Ahuja and Kangana.”


Kachchi Sadak will be Amrish Puri’s last film. Amrishji plays a jailor who deals with the main criminals inside and outside the jail and will be seen on screen from the second reel to the last reel of the film. The story is very realistic, which revolves around the life of liquor barons of North India and throws light on the wrong influence of liquor on the youth. Family feuds as well as political drama forms the main plot of the film,” says Singh.
