Anil Thadani acquires Naya Daur rights

MUMBAI: Bombay distributor Anil Thadani, after releasing films in the Delhi-UP and Rajasthan with Studio 18, has now forayed into all India distribution independently.

Thadani has acquired the all India distribution rights of B R Chopra’s classic Naya Daur. Ravi Chopra says, “Anil Thadani has bought the entire India rights and will be releasing the film in the first week of August.”

“The film will be now be re-released in colour and the release date has been fixed as 3 August. He will be releasing it across the country under his firm AA Films,” says a source.

Veteran producer-director B R Chopra’s Naya Daur was first released in 1957. It was a black and white film and starred Dilip Kumar, Ajit, Chand Usmani, Jeevan and others. The film was a success at the box-office. In 1958 the film even was a recipient of three Filmfare awards Best Actor – Dilip Kumar, Best Music Director – O P Nayyar and Best Story – Akhtar Mirza.

Ravi Chopra planned to release the film earlier in June and time it with its original release date, but due to technological reasons, the film had to be delayed.
