Anoop Soni plays lead in Sadanah’s Karkash

MUMBAI: Television actor Anoop Soni has found his footing in Bollywood with Kamal Sadanah’s new film, Karkash.

The actor, who plays Suyash Mehra in Balaji Telefilms’ show Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki and makes a special appearance in Sony’s Virrudh, has recently wound up shooting for Kamal Sadanah’s film Karkash, in which he plays the lead.

Says Soni, “Karkash is a narrative about male chauvinism. It tries to expose the hypocrisy of people when they talk about equal rights. I play Shankar, the main protagonist in the film. “

Soni will be paired opposite Suchitra Pillai in the film, that has been doing the rounds of film festivals and is expected to release in India in a few months’ time.

Soni has earlier been part of films like Tathasu, Apaharan, Footpath, Fiza and Godmother, among others.

About his foray into films, Soni says, “I choose work if I can relate to it. I also believe that cinema offers you more space and variety in terms of acting, unlike television. But nevertheless, it’s the script that drives me no matter the size of the medium.”
