Anurag Kashyap & Sunil Bohra to release Chittagong worldwide

MUMBAI: Anurag Kashyap & Sunil Bohra will be releasing the film Chittagong worldwide.

Chittagong, the film that was stuck for sometime, will finally see the day light of the day. Anurag, who saw the film, has been vocal about the film for a long time and has in fact supported it on Twitter that also resulted into a controversy. The controversy was that Ashutosh Gowarikar’s film Khelen Hum Jee Jaan Se starring Abhishek Bachchan was a hurdle in Chittagong’s release since the two films were based on the same subject.

Chittagong is directed by Bedabrata Pain starring Manoj Bajpai is set against the backdrop of a little known saga in 1930s British-occupied India – where a group of schoolboys and young women, led by a schoolteacher, Masterda Surya Sen dared to take on the British Empire.

Bohra said, "Anurag is a good friend. He liked the film a lot and told me about it. We are jointly presenting the film and we will try and ensure that the film has a wide release like any other commercial film."

Director Bedabrata Pain added, "The small delay was a blessing in disguise as it gave us some more time to do the patchwork better. I am deeply honoured that respected film-makers such as Anurag Kashyap, Vishal Bharadwaj, Rakeysh Mehra, Ketan Mehta and others have loved the film, and I am thrilled that Anurag Kashyap and Sunil Bohra are releasing the film now."

The film is slated to release in early 2012.
