Anuranan director bags Santa Cruz Film Festival award

Mumbai: The director of Bengali film Anuranan, Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, has received the ‘Emerging Film-Maker Award’ at the Santa Cruz Film Festival held on 9 May to 17 May in California.

The Emerging Film-Maker Award is bestowed upon a debutant film-maker who is the one to look forward to. The Santa Cruz Film Festival screened 148 films from 26 countries, where Anuranan was selected for the competitive section.

Since 2002, the Santa Cruz Film Festival is dedicated to supporting the artists of today and the filmmakers of tomorrow. The festival offers unique venues for filmmakers to present their individual brand of independent storytelling to a growing and enthusiastic audience.

Chowdhury has already been bestowed the Sixteenth Aravindan Puraskaram for the year 2006 for the best debutant filmmaker for this film.
