Asha Parekh heads jury for HHITA 2006

MUMBAI: Asha Parekh will be heading the jury for the 6th Hero Honda Indian Television Academy Awards (HHITA) 2006, which will be held on 26 November in Mumbai.

Indian Television Academy convenor Shashi Ranjan says, “The transparent nature of our judging process has maintained the authenticity of our awards and has made the HHITA award the most coveted one in the television industry. In addition to having a highly eminent jury, the entire process is audited by Eikona, which is TAM India’s PR Monitoring service. Cutting across genres, the awards embrace one and all from soaps to talk/chat shows to music/films based shows to news and current affairs programmes to children’s programmes, from directors to actors to anchors / hosts to technicians and so on.”

The Awards have a unique two-tier Jjury system. First the Jury-1 sits in and evaluates all entries. The results, then, are collated and calibrated by Eikona to come out with the Top-10 Programmes in each category, encompassing the entire spectrum of television.

Jury-2, presided by Asha Parekh and comprising other personalities like Kalpana Lajmi, Bharti Pradhan, Gyan Ranjan Sahai, Anand Rai and Zarina Wahab, will then deliberate upon these results and elect the top foue nominees in each category.

A total of 2,707 nominations have been received for the 6th Hero Honda Indian Television Academy Awards (HHITA) 2006, with 360 programmes, 82 production-houses and nearly 65 channels participating.
