MUMBAI: Balaji Telefilms Ltd has posted a net profit of Rs 262.761 million (Rs 26.27 crores) for the quarter ended 30 September, 2007, which is up 36.16 per cent as compared to Rs 192.967 million (Rs 19.29 crores) for the corresponding quarter last year.
The company’s total income increased from Rs 837.951 million (Rs 83.75 crores) for the quarter ended 30 September, 2006 to Rs 843.735 million (Rs 84.37 crores) for the quarter ended 30 September, 2007.
Apart from Shootout at Lokhandwala, there were no other movies that released this quarter from the Balaji stable. Moreover, the recent blockbuster Bhool Bhulaiyaa released on 12 October and thus has not been accounted for here. What’s more, the company’s next few film releases are Woodstock Villa, C Company and Sarkar Raaj amongst others.
Balaji Telefilms’ profit before tax was up from Rs 286.89 million (Rs 28.68 crores) to Rs 364.02 million (Rs 36.40 crores), which was up 26.89 per cent as compared to the last quarter.
Operating Profit was up Rs 394.73 million (Rs 39.47 crores) this quarter as compared to Rs 312.92 million (Rs 31.29 crores) in the corresponding quarter last year. Whereas operating income increased from Rs 745.32 million to Rs 779.48 million in this quarter.
The stock closed the day at Rs 296.50, up by Rs 6.55 (2.26 per cent). The stock hit an intraday high of Rs 320 and low of Rs 290.
