BIG Home Video acquires Ghajini rights for Rs 37.50 million

MUMBAI: Reliance Entertainment’s BIG Home Video has acquired the home video rights of Aamir Khan starrer blockbuster film Ghajini for Rs 37.50 million (Rs 3.75 crores) from producer Madhu Mantena. BIG is looking at releasing the film’s home video within the next fortnight.

While earlier Mantena expected to rake in Rs 45 million (Rs 4.50 crores) with the sale of Ghajini’s home video rights, the price has now leveled down to Rs 37.50 millio, which is 15 – 20 per cent lower than expected earlier. “Yes, earlier we were looking at selling the rights at Rs 45 million but the economic slowdown has impacted the price. Nevertheless, we are happy with the price at which the home video rights have been sold to BIG,” Mantena tells Businessofcinema.com.

BIG Music and Home Entertainment chief executive office Kulmeet Makkar adds, “Keeping in line with the success of the film, Ghajini’s home video is going to be the biggest home video launch ever. We have huge plans for its home video release.”
