MUMBAI: BIG Home Video, in association with Paramount Home Entertainment Global has released G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra on DVD , Blu Ray and VCD.
G.I. Joe is based on Hasbro’s action figures including Duke, Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow, and The Baroness. Directed by Stephen Sommers, G.I. JOE: The Rise of Cobra stars Channing Tatum, Marlon Wayans, Sienna Miller, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Rachel Nichols and Ray Park, as well as veteran actors Dennis Quaid and Christopher Eccleston.
The DVD is priced at Rs. 599 and Blu Ray is priced at Rs. 1299 . The DVD and Blu Ray also include not seen before features like commentary by Sommers and producer Bob Ducsay, The Big Bang Theory: The Making of G.I. JOE and Next-Gen Action: The Amazing Visual FX and Design of G.I. JOE, which showcases the work that went into creating over 1,650 visual effect shots. The film has also been released on VCD format and is priced at Rs. 299 and as a Hindi dub on VCD at Rs. 99.
The DVD and Blu-ray formats for G.I. Joe: the Rise of Cobra will also feature augmented reality technology that will allow owners to participate in an exclusive 3D holographic G.I. JOE combat experience, utilizing their webcams and a special website.
The release of G.I.Joe on Home Video will be promoted by radio partner Radio City, via R J mentions and contests in seven cities including Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad & Chennai. The release communication is also reaching out to the target group through a dedicated campaign on Out Of Home screens and e-mailers to the target group. Other tie-ups like a teaser ad in Chip, the leading gadget magazine, followed by contests in Chip, T3 & Man’s World and other leading editorials are also in place.
