BIG Music & Home Video CEO Kulmeet Makkar quits

MUMBAI: Reliance BIG Music and Home Entertainment CEO Kulmeet Makkar has quit the company. Makkar joined BIG in May 2007 and helped set up the music and home video label of the company

His last day in the company was 31 May. When contacted by Businessofcinema.com, Makkar confirmed the development. Reliance Big Pictures CEO Sanjeev Lamba will be handling the operations post Makkar’s exit.

There has been speculation that he might have taken the decision to quit the company after a recent tie-up of BIG Music with T-Series. However, Makkar denied the same saying, "No, that was not the reason for me quitting BIG. I put in my papers because I want to pursue other things. In fact, I was part of the deal with T- Series, as it made business sense."

Makkar has not taken a call as to where he will be joining next. "I am still formulating plans and something concrete will come out in a week or two. Whatever I do it will be in the music and entertainment space." Prior to joining BIG, Makkar was with Saregama India for 18 years.
