MUMBAI: Deepika Padukone donned the hat of a jury member as she sat with Sourav Ganguly and Shiamak Davar to hunt out the best faces and bodies for Shah Rukh’s Knights. Knights and Angels is a show on NDTV Imagine which is a dance reality show that will feature six girls to be cheerleaders for Shah Rukh Khan’s IPL franchisee, Kolkata Knight Riders. And Deepika came to judge the sixteen girls who would move to the final round.
Deepika first revealed why she decided to be a judge, “Coming from a sports background and having played a sport at the National level, I know how much support and motivation one needs. In a crowded stadium or auditorium, playing away from your home ground, packed with supporters who are egging your rivals, a cheer leading team can do wonders to the morale of a player. And so today, my Angels are not just going to be chosen because they are pretty and can dance, but they have to have a killer instinct to motivate the Knights to be triumphant.”
Explaining the show details, Deepika said, “Sixteen girls take the floor for an act that leaves me quite surprised. These girls have been together for only four weeks and their performance did take me by surprise. Their co-ordination and technique could be improvised upon, but their skill and enthusiasm, certainly impressed me.”
The actress who has dabbled in dancing for many years now, said, “I am not a trained dancer, but I have always liked dancing. I have done all kinds of dancing, be it Indian, classical or western, as a child. I also learnt a little bit of Bharat Natyam and before Om Shanti Om, I did a workshop on Kathak. So the dance form is not new to me and having danced in my films, I know what is required on the big platform. But Shiamak Davar, who is a fellow judge certainly took me by surprise, when he yanked me on to the floor to dance to the title track from Dhoom 2.”
The show, Knights and Angels featuring Deepika Padukone will be aired on NDTV Imagine, on 28 March at 10 pm.
