MUMBAI: Director Anurag Kashyap, who directed films like Black Friday, Hanuman Returns and No Smoking, is now banking on his next movie Dev D to pave a path for his other yet to be released films.

Kashyap has written and directed Dev D, which is a 21st century take on Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s Devdas. The film will release on 6 February, 2009.

Besides Dev D, Kashyap has a list of other films that are ready for release like Gulaal, which is slated to release on 13 March. Also lined up for release is Paanch, which is Kashyap’s first directorial venture but has shown no signs of releasing.

"Gulaal is releasing on 13 March – one month after Dev D but as far as Paanch is concerned, I have no idea when it will be released. I hope Dev D and Gulaal do well so that somebody will safely be able to release Paanch," says Kashyap.

Some of the other films that he is working on are Studio 18’s Bombay Velvet and  Doga, which according to Kashyap is a Hindi "Raj Comics kind of film", produced by Sony Pictures. He says, "Both these films are huge budget films."

Besides that he has a lot of small budget movies and scripts that he has written. "But we will only take a decision after Dev D," says Kashyap.
