Eros to power IIFA weekend in UK

MUMBAI: Eros International will power the forthcoming International Indian Film Academy Weekend (IIFAs) during 7 to 10 June 2007 in Yorkshire, by showcasing some of its forthcoming films.


Eros will also drive key forums and panel discussions designed to give wider access to the Indian film industry, says a release. Says Eros’ chairman Kishore Lulla, “We see IIFA as another institution that has taken on the mission of promoting the phenomenal and vibrant Indian film industry on a global platform through the medium of Indian Film Awards and are delighted with the association.”


Adds IIFA director Sabbas Joseph, “Eros has always been an innovative and forward thinking player within the Indian entertainment arena and we are privileged that this year’s IIFA will be powered by Eros. IIFA greatly values and acknowledges Eros’s contribution to the Indian film industry at large.”


The IIFA Weekend is a four-day extravaganza that will include events in Leeds, Bradford, Hull, York and London and will include business forums, film premieres, workshops, an awards ceremony and charity fund-raising events and the events in totality are expected to boost tourism in host region Yorkshire by more than £9.5m and attract 28,000 from all over the world, the release adds.
