Mumbai: Jim Carrey’s Horton Hears A Who, from the makers of Ice Age, will be released on DVD by Excel Home Videos this Diwali.
Excel has also planned a marketing initiative around the DVD release.
Excel Home Videos CEO Roby Abraham said, "We are banking on Horton because of the superior content and initial trade response. The DVD sales do register a significant jump during this period and Horton being a complete family viewing fare will strike a chord. Moreover we have a special inaugural offer where we are bundling Ice Age -2 free with the DVD."
Horton Hears A Who is an animated adventure of Horton, a fun-loving elephant, who hears a cry for help coming from a speck of dust floating through the air. He soon discovers the speck is home to Who-Ville, a city inhabited by tiny people in big trouble. Horton must brave the dangers of the jungle to protect, his new friends and save the day! It is based on a book of the same name by Dr Seuss. The Movie is moral based and delves on the importance of life irrespective of size.
The extra features include deleted footage, animation screen tests, Bringing the characters to life, Animating Horton, Meet Katie, Our Speck: where do we fit in?, and Elephant fun: the facts . Released theatrically in March, the movie has grossed over $ 290 million worldwide and is the first movie to cross the $ 200 million mark this year.
The DVD is priced at Rs 599 and is available at all leading stores across the country.
