Chocolate boy hero Imran Khan is quite the family man in real life too. Though he has played roles of a kidnapper, a gangster and a casanova in his films, outside of 70-mm, this handsome nephew of leading superstar Aamir Khan is a hands-on, proud, soon-to-be father.
His wife Avantika, whom he wed in a private ceremony in 2011, is heavily pregnant with their first child. The happy couple is expecting their first baby in June, and Imran said he was nervous, anxious and his wife was “frustrated” with the pregnancy.
Said Imran Khan, at a recent media interaction: “At this point there is more frustration level with the baby being inside for many months. She (Avantika) is getting bigger, her feet are swollen, her back is aching and so she is getting cranky.”
He added that “She wants to get it out. There is no excitement. There is frustration now. Her health is fine but she is not happy.”
Imran Khan has taken a self-imposed sabbatical of sorts from films, until the baby is born. “I have always taken my responsibility towards my family very seriously. For me family still comes first.”
Adding that he won’t sign any new film till his baby is born. “If I sign a film right now, it will be in the middle of my baby’s arrival process. I can’t do that because I want to be there (when the baby is born). I don’t see the need to take up too much work at the moment. I had three releases last year and have been working non-stop. I have a project with Nikhil Advani‘s next, for which we begin work in July-August.”
