Mumbai: UTV Motion Pictures and Bhandarkar Entertainment’s Fashion has grossed Rs 336 million (Rs 33.6 crores) in its first week at the worldwide box office.

Fashion debuted last week in theatres on 29 October and shot past the Rs 300 million mark at the box office in seven days, becoming Bhandarkar’s biggest hit ever.

UTV Motion Pictures CEO Siddharth Roy Kapur said, "Fashion has surpassed all expectations with the sort of business it has achieved in just a week of release, coupled with the critical acclaim it has generated in India and around the world. It has shattered the myth that a heroine oriented film cannot do the sort of business that a movie with a male protagonist can. The success of Fashion is testament to what can be achieved when you bring together a visionary director, a talented cast and crew, a compelling script, great production values, aggressive marketing and a sound distribution strategy."

On 29 October, the film opened to 90 per cent occupancy in theatres in prime multiplex properties in metro cities. Over the next few days the film had an average occupancy of 60 – 80 per cent in most theatres across the country. However on Monday, 3 November a major dip was witnessed in the film’s business.
