Fropper launches music networking; buys license from PPL, IPRS

MUMBAI: Indian social networking website has launched an online music service that will enable more than 3.5 million users of the portal to listen to their favorite songs as they exchange notes with other music lovers on the site.

The music on the site is legal and has secured the required licenses from both PPL and IPRS to stream music from the website. Additionally, they are also exploring options of sourcing more content through various labels and music licensing bodies.

Fropper Music will be a unique space for users to connect and network with other Fropper users in real-time. It will provide users a host of pre-determined music channels across five languages, including stations like Hindi Latest, Punjabi/Bhangra, Marathi, Telugu and International Hits. business head Navin Mittal says, "Networking around music is a fairly new concept in India and there is no quality music networking site yet. Internationally, Internet radio is gaining more listeners with every passing day and has already left terrestrial radio far behind in terms of growth. On Fropper Music people will be able to enjoy music on the basis of genre, ratings, social slices, popularity, moods and also build custom channels. Intelligence will be built into the system to enable discovery and interaction."
