Goa government cancels peripheral activities at IFFI

Mumbai: In lieu of the terrorist attacks in Mumbai, the Goa government has decided to cancel all peripheral activities at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI).

"All peripheral activities are cancelled as there has been a terror attack in Mumbai. We have also taken this step due to security reasons," said Goa chief minister Digamber Kamat.

The Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) had scheduled various cultural programmes at different venues across Goa including performances by Sonu Nigam, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Meghna Naidu, Avjit Roy and Saveri. These performances were being heavily promoted across the local radio channels in Goa until a call was taken.

Kamat presided over the governing body meeting of the ESG and reviewed the situation.

The NFDC India party  was also cancelled to show solidarity towards the recent happenings.
