Hirani bags Teacher’s Achievement Award

MUMBAI: Beam Global Spirits and Wine held the 7th Annual Teacher’s Achievement Awards ceremony in Mumbai where Bollywood director Raj Kumar Hirani was bestowed with The Teacher’s Achievement award for the entertainment category.
 
Hirani stated, “Thank you teachers and the jury for scaring me. All the work I’m going to do now has to live up to the expectation of Munnabhai. I accept in all humility this award. Thank you very much.”
 
Other winners included, Mahesh Dattani in the communication category for theatre, ICICI Bank’s Chanda Kochar for the business category, Manavjit Singh Sandhu for the sports category and K V Kamath was honoured with the lifetime achievement award.
 
Several celebrities attended the event that included Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Milkha Singh, Sabira Merchant, Atul Kasbekar, Prahlad Kakar, Harsh Mariwala, Subir Raha, SM Dutta, Anjali Bhagwat, Pooja Bedi, Piyush Mishra, Nadira Babbar, Naraini Shastri, Prasoon Joshi and Gaurav Chopra.

Hosted by Pooja Bedi, The Teacher’s Achievement Awards ceremony began with a dance performance by Nritarutya. The grand finale was a magical musical tribute to some of the great musicians of the world by Niladari Kumar and his group.
