I&B ministry to co-produce film with Firoz Nadiadwala

MUMBAI: The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting is to produce a film on the freedom struggle in partnership with Bollywood film producer Firoz Nadiadwala, centering around the character of legendary freedom fighter Tatya Tope.


Directed by Vinay Shukla, the movie, titled Tatya, will be made on a budget of Rs 500 million (Rs 50 crores) with 50:50 contribution from the government and Nadiadwala’s company Base Industries.


Tatya is being targeted for a release on 15 August, 2008. The cast of the film has not been announced as yet.


Nadiadwala’s recently produced film Welcome starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif in the lead has been doing good business at the box office.
