Dilli 6, the casting gamble continues

MUMBAI: After a string of leading names being associated with Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra’s upcoming film Dilli 6, the fact is that the cast is yet to be finalised. The film is being produced by UTV Motion Pictures along with Mehra.

Earlier it was Abhishek Bachchan and Hrithik Roshan whose names were tossed and later it was Siddharth (of Rang De Basanti fame), who was touted as the new lead of Dilli 6.

The latest on this is that the makers are planning to cast a new face in the film. In an exclusive chat with Businessofcinema.com, Dilli 6‘s writer Kamlesh Pandey informs, “The casting for the film is not yet decided. Rakeysh has narrowed down three names and most likely the protagonist is going to be a new face.”

Dilli 6, which is the director’s next after the blockbuster Rang De Basanti, is a lighter subject with comic overtones. Adds, Pandey, “As the name suggests, the film is set in Delhi but the theme has relevance across geographies. It’s definitely a different subject from RDB.”

It must be recalled that Rakeysh Mehra has a four film deal worth Rs 280 crore with UTV, which includes a trilogy on the Pandavas. Dilli 6 is a part of the same contract.
