‘I’m a businessman so I’ve to go get what I want’ – Karan Johar

Why is there so much secrecy around the look of Agneepath?

Not secretive. How can we be secretive? It’s already been made before. Have you seen a single shot of the film with Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor that I am producing? It will come out at the right time. Agneepath is a cult film with an iconic performance by Mr Bachchan. I’d like him to watch our new Agneepath as soon as it’s ready.

Is it true that you’re also in the process of acquiring the rights of a French film?

I am not revealing anything. It’s too early. When I’ve the rights, I’ll announce it. But yes, I saw this French film and I fell in love with it. So I traveled to London to get its rights. I’m a businessman so I’ve to go get what I want.

While you were away, your directors at Dharma have been waiting to narrate their scripts?

They’re all ready. Ayaan Mukerjee’s film goes on the floors in November, Rensil D’Silva is ready and we’re about to cast. Puneet Malhotra’s movie is going on the floors in December, whereas Tarun Mansukhani is working on his script.

Are you making Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham 2?

Yes it’s an idea. It’d be a bold step if I make it. It’s very strange but all the six main members of the cast (Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor) are as dear to me now as they were 10 years ago when I made the film. I’m sure they’d respond positively to the sequel. K3G is dear to all of us. I’m proud to say it’s the tallest family film.

But now it’s the era of Delhi Belly?

Delhi Belly is awesome! I’d love to produce a film like that but only if Aamir Khan helps me. I don’t think I can pull it off on my own. I don’t have the confidence to pull it off. It’s a writing victory all the way. All the edgy humour, language… nowhere did I feel uncomfortable. I’ve felt far more uncomfortable in other so-called comedies. I fell off my chair with laughter while watching Delhi Belly.
