Indian entry wins Silver Award at Cairo International Film Festival

MUMBAI: Tamil film, Mudhal Mudhal Mudhal Varai, the Indian entry in the Cairo International Film Festival has won the Silver Award. Directed by Krishnan Seshadri Gomatam, the film participated in the digital section and was sent by Directorate of Film Festivals, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India. The film was also a part of Indian Panorama IFFI 2008.

India was the guest of honor in the Cairo Film Festival which concluded recently on 20 November, 2009. Adoor Gopalakrishnan was the chairman of the International Jury. Apart from screening of films curated by the Directorate of Film Festivals, National Film Development Corporation also participated in the Films Market at the Festival.

 

Another Indian entry New York was the opening film at the 33rd Cairo International Film Festival. The Festival also presented a retrospective of Madhur Bhandarkar’s seven films including Corporate, Fashion, Chandni Bar.
