Irfaan Khan to anchor Zee News’ Don

MUMBAI: Television news channel Zee News has launched a new programme based upon true stories of the underworld to be anchored by film actor Irfaan Khan.

Titled Don, the programme will showcase people involved and the modus operandi in running a parallel world that exists and flourishes out of Mumbai. The programme will give an insight into the journey of some ordinary people who made ‘dangerously’ big in this unaccounted business, says a release.

Says Irfaan, “It was exciting to relive the lives of the real Don instead of the reel Don. For the first time, such a well-researched programme on this subject is coming up on television.”

The programme will showcase the yet unrevealed innermost secrets of the dreaded dons- about how they planned and executed some of the biggest crimes in history. All these insights are provided by their family members and kinsmen first hand. These stories will also take a perspective from their sharp shooters who used to protect them, the drivers who used to listen to the Don’s most intimate conversations, and their bodyguards who were their shadow at all times. In addition, it will show some important confessions by senior police officers, who faced the wrath of these Dons but finally triumphed by driving them out of their dens.

The Don will be aired at 9:30 pm on Fridays on Zee News, starting 4 May 2007.
