MUMBAI: Sony Pictures Releasing India will release Academy award nominated film, The Pursuit of Happyness on 9 March 2007 in India.
The Pursuit of Happyness stars Will Smith with his real life son Jaden Smith, paired for the first time ever on the big screen. The heartwarming rags-to-riches true story is based on the life of Chris Gardner, a millionaire stockbroker played by Will Smith. The Pursuit of Happyness is a motivational film of a father’s inspiring love and his struggle to survive in a fiercely competitive work environment and achieve his career dream while bringing up his five yr old son as a single parent.
The film has grossed over $ 277 million worldwide and Smith’s performance was nominated for an Oscar, Golden Globe, SAG award and Broadcast Film Critics Association award. His son Jaden was also nominated as Breakout Star by Black Reel, Best Young Actor by the Broadcast Film Critics Association, and Best Supporting Actor by the NAACP Image Awards.
