John Abraham my god-brother in Bollywood: Ayushmann Khurrana

MUMBAI: Actor Ayushmann Khurrana has no god-father in Bollywood, but he seems to have found a "god-brother" in John Abraham, who has produced his debut film "Vicky Donor".

"John is my god-brother in this industry. He can’t be my god-father, he is too young," Ayushmann told IANS.

"He is like a buddy. Both of us don’t have anybody in the industry. It feels great that I am starting my Bollywood career with John’s home production," he added.

The veejay-turned-actor says John played his part as the film’s producer very well, and refrained from interfering in creative decisions.

"John never took any creative calls. It was the director (Shoojit Sircar), who was in charge of the creative department. There were no interferences from John’s end. He used to guide me and tell me how to project myself as an actor in the industry," said Ayushmann.

The 27-year-old believes "Vicky Donor", which explores the subject of sperm donation, is the perfect launch pad for him.

"There is not much responsibility on my shoulders because the subject is the king and hero of this film. There is no pressure on me at all. There is nothing to lose. I am in the safe zone."

"It’s a perfect launch pad for me. It is not a multi-starrer, the film revolves around me. This film landed as a blessing," he added.

It sure was, as Ayushmann didn’t even have to audition for the role.

"I did not do audition for the film. Director Shoojit said he has watched my previous videos and said he wanted a youth like me who could connect to the audience. He wanted a typical Punjabi guy. That is how I got this role," said Ayushmann.

The film, releasing Friday, also features actress Yami Gautam.
