Informing about the awards Anu Ranjan, Editor – Gr8! Magazine said "This is the 11th year of our Gr8! Women awards and it is heartening to see that our initiative, which is the first of its kind in India, has grown from strength to strength over the years. When we started out in 2002, we had felicitated 5 women achievers. From 2002 this has grown to 25 categories in 2012, with prominent women from all parts of the country being associated with our awards. It has also become more meaningful with the social cause that we are promoting against female foeticide in the form of BETI, of which Pradeep Dhoot is an unflinching supporter. I am glad that so many women achievers / celebrities from different genres including very prominent politicians have participated in the event over the last 11 years".
Some of the luminaries who were honoured at the Gr8! Awards included Juhi Chawla, Vidya Balan, Ekta Kapoor, Flavia Agnes, Grace Pinto, Radha Kapoor, Pria Kataria Puri, Shamshad Begum, Anjana Reddy, Anuradha Sengupta, Giaa Maanek, Rashmi Sharma, Vishakha Muyle, Kiran Bawa, Sampat Pal Devi(Gulabi Gang), Richa Sharma, Salma Sultana & Tabassum among others.
A bevy of personalities from the glam world of both Television & Films, performed at the glittering ceremony. These included 25 of the most promising stars like Neha Dhupia, Suhasi Dhami, Divyanka Tripathi, Rati Pandey, Jaswir Kaur, Giaa Manek, Aamir Ali, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Ravi Dubey, Aishwarya Sakhuja, Sanaya Irani. Gurmeet Chaudhary, Kavita Kaushik, Priyal Gor, Drashti Dhami.
Some of the award presenters included names like Madhur Bhandarkar, Mahek Chahal, Akashdeep Sahgal, Tulip Joshi, Sushma Reddy, Avika Gor, Rajan Shahi, Deepshika, Smita Thackeray, Alka Yagnik, Saroj Khan, Rahul Dev and others.
