MUMBAI: K Sera Sera will be producing Rajkumar Santoshi’s mythological film Ramayan, which is reportedly being made on a budget of Rs 900 million (Rs 90 crore). The film will star Ajay Devgan and Kajol as Ram and Sita respectively. The couple will be coming together on screen after Raju Chacha, which was released in 2000.
K Sera Sera managing director Parag Sanghvi says, “We liked the setup of Rajkumar Santoshi’s Ramayan and wished to be a part of this enormous project. Santoshi has budgeted the film around Rs 900 million and we have joined hands to produce the film, which will also have some special effects. The rest of the casting is in progress. The film will be launched in two months’ time.”
The mythological subject of Ramayan was an instant hit on television when Ramanand Sagar had brought it on small screen from 1986 to 1988, wherein Arun Govil and Deepika played the part of Ram and Sita.
