MUMBAI: Farhan Akhtar’s latest outing on television for a show on NDTV Imagine, Oye It’s Friday has had disastrous TRP ratings. The director who successfully metamorphosized into an actor of repute in his first film, Rock On, tried his hand at anchoring with this show.
Despite well known guests like Aamir Khan and Hrithik Roshan, the show TRPs were as low as 0.8.
In an effort to build up the show’s equity, Akhtar will give way to Karan Johar, who will anchor the show. While Johar is currently shooting for his film – My Name is Khan – in Los Angeles, he is expected to be back in India by January end. Pertinent to note here is that Johar is on the board of NDTV Imagine and Dharma Productions holds an equity stake in it.
Reveals the show producers, "It is not that we have replaced Farhan with Karan Johar. After a few episodes Karan will be replaced by another top notch director."
On the other hand, Akhtar has already shot with Shah Rukh Khan and that show will be spread over two episodes.
