London, Mumbai to collaborate in filmmaking

MUMBAI: Following the conclusion of the International India Film Academy (IIFA) Awards in Yorkshire earlier this month, London and Mumbai are set to ink an MoU (memorandum of understanding) for greater collaboration in filmmaking.

The Mayor of London Ken Livingstone is expected to come to Mumbai in November this year with a film delegation to finalise the MoU and chalk out specific steps to encourage co-productions.

Livingstone will hold discussions with representatives of the film industry and also with the Mayor of Mumbai Dr Shubha Raul.

Following a request by Film London, the arrangements for the visit to India are being made by the Film and Television Producers Guild of India. The MoU is expected to be signed between 19 and 21 November.

This will enable entities in both cities to work together to share ideas and information on domestic and international film production through exchange of visits by renowned film personalities from either city, undertake efforts to boost understanding of their film production markets and increase bilateral cultural understanding.
