Lord Ganesha gets animated in 3D film

MUMBAI: Even as devotees celebrate the Ganesh festival in Maharashtra and other parts of India, comes the news that Kuala Lumpur based Indian director Sharad Sharan is planning to capture the life of the Elephant God in a 3D animated film. It may be recalled that last year Sahara One Motion Pictures released an animated film – Hanuman, which was based on the life of the mythological monkey God.

Sharan says, “Ganesha is every animators dream. It took us over three years of research before we started working on the script by Dr. Vyas – a PhD scholar in Vedic Science (Sanskrit), Ramchander Sadekar, Amjad Sheikh and Brij Katyal.”

The story traces the entire life of the Elephant God with interesting and unknown facts. “It would be a 32 – 50 camera set-up and we are canning a lot of live animations. The 3D film will be the biggest animation venture across the globe and will be made under the banner of Tarantella Pictures Pvt. Ltd., which is one of Asia’s biggest software producer’s ventures and is in the conception, production and distribution of feature films and television software for the Asian market,” he adds.

Tarantella Pictures Pvt. Ltd has also been behind many award-winning series like of Janjiku, Istri Pilihan, Bidadari among others. Currently, the company has a joint venture company in Malaysia with Astro Shaw to produce six to eight feature films in two years.

On 29 September, another 3D animated film Krishna produced by Sethia Audio Video Pvt. Ltd. and presented by Pen is slated for all India release.
