Madhuri Dixit to play Indira Gandhi in Krishna Shah’s film

MUMBAI: Director Krishna Shah is making a film on the life of late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi starring Madhuri Dixit who would be playing Indira in the film.  The two-part motion picture titled: Mother: The Indira Gandhi Story, was announced on her 92nd birth anniversary on 19 November .
 
Hollywood stars Tom Hanks (as Lyndon Baines Johnson) is most likely to be a part of the film. Tommy Lee Jones is also being approached for an important role (to play Richard Nixon) in the film. 
 
From Bollywood, actor Dharmendra, Abhay Deol and Nana Patekar have been approached to play Motilal Nehru, Rajiv Gandhi and Jai Praksh Narayan respectively.
 
Shah has done research on the legend for 20 years by reading books on her, doing interviews with politicians, journalists, bureaucrats, writers, military men and Indira’s contemporaries.  

The pre production work on the film is complete and the film is slated to go on floors by mid 2010. It would be shot in India, U.K, U.S.A and Russia.
