MUMBAI: Actor Madhuri Dixit seems to be readying herself to return to the Hindi film industry with a bang in her comeback film.
Dixit’s film, being launched by Yash Raj Films, is yet untitled, and is scheduled to be launched in January 2007. Cinematographer Anil Mehta who has films like Lagaan and Devdas to his credit, will debut as the director of this film.
An insider in Yash Raj Films, on conditions of anonymity, reveals that the film, which features Madhuri as the main protagonist, is a woman-oriented film with the lady possibly playing multiple roles in the film. The hero’s character is likely to be of lesser significance, says our source.
The sources add that the film, inspired by the classic Hollywood film Sound of Music, will be launched within the first two weeks of January; and the launch event itself is likely to be a festival of sorts. Emotional drama combined with good music will be the highlights of Madhuri’s comeback vehicle.
“Determined to come back with a bang, Madhuri Dixit is working hard on her physique, looks and personality, just like a newcomer. Since she returned to Mumbai on 6 December, her gruelling sessions at the gym have seen her lose five – six kilos already,” says a source from the Dixit camp.
