Mahadevan directs 3 films for Mirchi Movies

MUMBAI: Director Anant Mahadevan seems to be a roll these days. While recently, he was in news for signing films with Smita Thackaray, Moser Baer and Multi-vision, the director now has new film deals in his kitty.

Mahadevan has sealed a three film deal with Times Group’s Mirchi Movie and will also be directing a film for producer Keshu Ramsay.

Speaking to Businessofcinema.com, Mahadevan says, “I will first start off with the Venus film, which will be a hardcore youth film. The Moser Baer one will follow later, which is a feel-good romantic film. One film with Movie Mirchi will be an out and out comedy film. We are currently working out scripts. As soon as that is done we will move on to the other level of finalizing the star cast.”

The budgets for these films are more or less the same. They all will range between Rs 10 – 15 crores.

Mahadevan recently directed the Victoria No 203, which was the remake of the old hit film by the same name. However, none of Mahadevan’s upcoming films will be a remake. The director believes that even if Victoria No 203 was a hit, he would not have gone ahead with the genre again. “When one develops a remake idea, it is to give a new feel to an outdated movie. But the question arises, what our contribution has been in terms of concept. There are various unexplored subjects,” he says.
