Mallika Sherawat and Sahil Khan don camouflages

Mumbai :The Hollywood hit of the 80’s – Private Benjamin, a comedy directed by Howard Zieff, whose tagline read: ‘The army was no laughing matter’ is being re-made in Hindi. Titled as Fauj Mein Mauj, the film is to be produced by Ravi Walia and directed by first timer Murli Nagavalli, the erstwhile assistant of Priyadarshan.

Mallika Sherawat will play a female cadet in the Indian army. N. Chandra’s discovery Sahil Khan (of Style and Xcuse Me fame) will play the male lead. Paresh Rawal and Rajpal Yadav play supporting roles.

The producer and director team Ravi Walia and Murli Nagavalli were not available for comment. We finally nailed down Sahil Khan who let us know that, ” Fauj Mein Mauj is a comedy set against the backdrop of the Indian army. It traverses along the lines of Private Benjamin and Police Academy series.”

He further adds, “It is a story of a sexy young woman played by Mallika who joins the army. Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav and I try to woo her.”

Sahil further reveals, “We have already shot for 10-days in Kerala on a massive set. It was fun working with Mallika. She has no starry airs and was very co-operative from the word go. Sharat Saxena and Mukesh Rishi play colonels in the army while Upen Patel will make a special appearance.
