Maverick acquires OSO rights for Rajasthan

MUMBAI: Anuj Saxena’s Maverick Productions, which recently stepped into the distribution business, has acquired the distribution rights of Farah Khan’s Om Shanti Om starring Shah Rukh Khan for the Rajasthan territory.

Maverick will distribute OSO in the Rajashtan territory along with Marudhar Entertainment, which is owned by Sanjay Chatter. The company has also distributed Spider-Man 3 in Rajasthan.

Confirming the same to Businessofcinema.com, Maverick Productions CEO Anuj Saxena says, “Yes, we are going ahead with Om Shanti Om’s distribution. We did the distribution for Cash in the Mysore territory, and now we will be distributing Om Shanti Om in Rajasthan.”

Maverick Productions is keen only on select territory distribution for films. Saxena, however, refused to divulge the amount at which the deal was signed.

Headstrong about Maverick’s strategy for distribution, Saxena adds, “We are not looking at all India distribution right now. We just want to concentrate on one film territory distribution. We have been getting offers, but we don’t want to take a hasty decision and lose money. I am thinking long term.”

Saxena now awaits Shah Rukh Khan’s dates for his first film project, Dulha Mil Gaya, which is being presented by his company. The film is produced by Viveck Vaswani and is directed by Muddassar Aziz. “Hopefully Shah Rukh will start shooting post Om Shanti Om’s release, somewhere in November,” says Saxena.
