MUMBAI: Malayalam actor Mohanlal has been awarded with the Chithira Thirunnal Award. The award was presented to him by the Chief of Army Staff general Deepak Kapoor in Thiruvananthapuram.
The award was presented to Mohanlal in the presence of the students of Sri Chithira Thirunal Residential Central School and Sree Chithra Public School along with Law Minister M.Vijayakumar, Kerala University vice-chancellor Uthradam Thirunal Marthanda, Industries Principal secretary Dr A Jayakrishnan, and award committee chairman T Balakrishnan among others.
The award carries Rs 1 lakh and a citation plaque. Mohanlal has also recently been inducted into the Territorial Army as Lieutenant Colonel (Honorary).
The award is organized in the memory of the Travancore King, and is instituted by Sree Chithira Thirunnal Trust.
