Moser Baer’s social initiative holds convocation day

Moser Baer India Ltd’s Disha – an Employability Skill Development Initiative by Moser Baer Trust Foundation, on 17 December, 2007 organised the convocation day for its second batch of students. 470 students, comprising the second set of pass outs, have been placed with various MNC’s.

Disha is an initiative by Moser Baer Trust to alleviate poverty and facilitate disadvantaged youth to gain access to jobs in the emerging new economy with self-respect and dignity. The second and the third batch of trained 470 youths which includes 366 males and 104 female students at Disha fall in the age group of 18-25 years.

The project targets students from the villages in the vicinity of the company manufacturing units. Under Disha, three courses were offered of the students – Customer Relations and Sales, IT Enabled services and Office Assistant. At the end of their course the students have been placed with companies like Mc Donald’s, DLF, Reliance Communications, Kailash Hospital, Barista, ICICI Finance, Eureka Forbes, etc with salaries ranging from 3,000 – 6,000 Rupees.

The company’s director, Nita Puri said, “My heartiest congratulations to the graduating batch of young and enthusiastic 470 students. I wish the students the very best in their lives. Last year, we have been successful in placing first batch with 70 students and this year 470 students have graduated. At Disha, with an ambitious target of creating 1000 livelihoods, we intend to stand up to our commitment towards a better community.”


Close on the success of the three consecutive batches, another batch of 130 young people has been started at Dadri in Greater Noida offering in hospitality, IT hardware and services, office assistant and bed side patient attendant. Road shows and mobilization activities have also started for opening another centre near the company’s plant at Noida.
