Multiplexes piggyback ride on the Oscar fever

MUMBAI: With the Oscar fervor rising among movie-enthusiasts, multiplex chains Cinemax and Adlabs have assembled a package of award-winning films for Hollywood fans.


 


While Cinemax will screen three critically acclaimed movies – Crash (2006); Million Dollar Baby (2005) and The Departed (2007); Adlabs has lined up movies like American Gangster, The Bourne Ultimatum, Elizabeth : The Golden Age, Norbit, Transformers, Pirates of the Caribbean 3, Ratatouille, Surf’s Up, Enchanted, The Golden Compass and Eastern Promises.


 


The three day Oscar Film Festival at Cinemax will be held from 8 – 10 February at its select properties like Versova, Vashi and Thane at 8 pm on all the three days.


 


Cinemax vice president, marketing and programming Devang Sampat said, “Being one of the players in the entertainment industry, Cinemax is always in tune with the entertainment needs and demands of our patrons. With the 80th Annual Academy Awards fast approaching, we took up the lead to screen three of the best Oscar winning pictures of yesteryear in three of our properties. We noted the positive and overwhelming reactions and responses received for each of the movies selected, when screened during their release and hence, decided to showcase them. Each movie is brilliant in its own way and we are glad to exhibit them on the big screen.”


 


On the other hand, Adlabs will screen these movies for a week in the Mumbai circuit, at IMAX, Metro and Vashi from 8 – 14 February. In Noida these movies will screen between 21 – 28 February.
