Mumbai Mantra COO Chakravarty quits; org. restructured

MUMBAI: Mumbai Mantra (Mahindra and Mahindra’s film and entertainment division) COO Indranil Chakravarty has put in his papers. Post this development, the company has been re-structured.

Chakravarty put in his papers in the last week of January and his last working day will be 31 March, 2009.  However, he will not be attending office during this period.

Speaking to Businessofcinema.com, Mumbai Mantra CEO Andrey Purushottam said, "Post Indranil’s departure from Mumbai Mantra, the company has been restructured."

Chakravarty adds, "I have put in my papers at Mumbai Mantra for personal reasons. I spent almost two years in setting up the movie division and chalking out the business plan. However, there is a long gap for the next movie release from Mumbai Mantra and I thought this was the best time to explore other avenues and also let the new team settle in."

As the company’s COO, Chakravarty looked into the distribution and syndication business, which will now be handled by Jaspinder Kank who was senior vice president production. Kank has been re-designated as senior vice president production, distribution and syndication.

Additionally, Chakravarty was also handling Mumbai Mantra’s movie – Buddha’s international distribution, which will now be handled by the company’s CFO Nandini Lalwani.

In addition to this, Mumbai Mantra has also appointed Hindustan Unilever Ltd’s Rukmani Gupte as senior vice president marketing. Gupte is expected to join office this month.

Chakravarty joined Mahindra in October 2006. Prior to this, he was in Sony Music as director sales, marketing and operations for a period of 10 years.
