MUMBAI: Producer Subhash Ghai, director Nagesh Kukunoor and actor Shreyas Talpade have teamed up once again for a film, Bombay to Bangkok.

The trio, which worked together in Iqbal, will this time try their luck with a romantic comedy. Kukunoor has, in 2001, directed a romantic comedy Bollywood Calling.

Says Ghai, “I have set up an independent banner Mukta Searchlight Films to make independent cinema. Under this banner, we facilitate filmmaking for directors like Nagesh Kukunoor who come with good scripts and make films in a reasonable budget.”

Bombay to Bangkok will be shot on a start to finish schedule for 35 days from 1 March 2007 in Mumbai (Bombay, as addressed in the film title), and Thailand. Says Kukunoor, “As a frequent visitor to Thailand, I truly enjoyed the place. I realised that I want to showcase not just the pretty beaches in my film, but also Thai culture.”

In Bombay to Bangkok, lead Talpade’s character is a comedian, who in order to flee from someone dons the avatar of a doctor and flees to Thailand.

The film will also star Vijay Maurya, Rajeshwari Sachdev, Vikram Inamdar and Yatin Karyekar with Naseeruddin Shah in a special appearance. The music and the background score will be composed by Salim Suleman and the lyrics have been written by Mir Ali Hussain.
