NDTV Imagine Film Company buys 2 movies from Planman

MUMBAI: NDTV Imagine Film Company, the film division of NDTV Imagine, has acquired all rights of two movies from Planman Motion Pictures.

The movies are I’m 24, an urban romantic comedy, starring Rajat Kapoor, Ranvir Shorey, Neha Dhupia and Manjari Fadnis directed by Saurabh Shukla releasing in October and Sunglass, a comic fantasy, starring R Madhavan, Tota Rai Chaudhary, Konkana Sen Sharma, Jaya Bachchan, Naseeruddin Shah and Raima Sen directed by Rituparno Ghosh, which will release in December. Sunglass has been shot in Bengali and Hindi languages.

While NDTV Imagine officials refused to comment, Planman Motion Pictures CEO Shubho Shekhar Bhattacharji confirmed the development to Businessofcinema.com.

"The movies will be jointly marketed by Planman and NDTV Imagine. The theatrical trailer and standees of I’m 24 will be out within a week," informed Bhattacharji.

Sources inform that NDTV Imagine will distribute the films through a distribution partner, which it is yet to be finalized. NDTV Imagine Film Company also announced a film under co-production with NFDC titled The White Elephant that is directed by Aijaz Khan.

Recently Planman inked a deal with PVR Pictures to distribute The Last Lear, which will release on 12 September. Earlier this year the rights of Planman’s Mithya were sold to Tangerine Digital Entertainment and PVR Pictures was roped in as a distribution partner.
